truckIt had been a successful Odessa show.   On Saturday at opening we had just arrived due to a flat en route , and were bringing things off the truck as people came in.  Turns out people get excited by getting first crack at things, and several pieces were selling as they hit the ground.  The mood was jovial and spirited.  Dan Ackroyd and his wife came by and they were attracted to a two piece painted cupboard that they could see glimpses of on the still tied down load.  She told him to stay there until it was unloaded while she went on down the line, and he was good enough to suggest helping me unload rather than just standing there watching me.  Nice guy.  It turned out not to be the cupboard for them, but regular Toronto customers bought it right after, so this combined with other sales indicated…

The Cardinal Rules

Love Jane Pompilio George’s most recent collage!!!

cardinals The Cardinal Rules

It’s been too long since I attempted to do anything creative. Yesterday I decided to print out a number of photographs that I had taken of Northern Cardinals. After the usual cutting and arranging I squeezed out the last drops of some spray photo mount and finally started a mixed media collage. Today I went back to some formulaic steps that have been helpful in the past. Although the piece does resemble others I have done, at least I finally did something. The First of January 2016

I am always inspired on the first day of the year to begin a new 365 day challenge. This year my challenge is to write about the new thing(s) I learn each and every day. Today I started finding out a more about Auto-immune Diets and how to have a huge impact on the Auto-immune situation in my own body. I had virtually no foods that cause joint inflammation. I’m serious about this situation and there is absolutely no reason not to follow this path. I’m walking where the others have walked and you will hear about my progress.

I also learned that Miami is about 3 1/2 hours north of Key West.

Both of these things give me tons of hope!

Plus…I ate muscles and am so glad that I have not developed a shell fish problem.

These are things I learned. January 1st 2016.

Gate A-4

All is NOT lost!!!!

Live & Learn

Gate A-4 By Naomi Shihab Nye:

Wandering around the Albuquerque Airport Terminal, after learning my flight had been delayed four hours, I heard an announcement: “If anyone in the vicinity of Gate A-4 understands any Arabic, please come to the gate immediately.” Well— one pauses these days. Gate A-4 was my own gate. I went there.

An older woman in full traditional Palestinian embroidered dress, just like my grandma wore, was crumpled to the floor, wailing. “Help,” said the flight agent. “Talk to her . What is her problem? We told her the flight was going to be late and she did this.”

I stooped to put my arm around the woman and spoke haltingly. “Shu-dow-a, shu-bid-uck, habibti? Stani schway, min fadlick, shu-bit-se-wee?” The minute she heard any words she knew, however poorly used, she stopped crying. She thought the flight had been cancelled entirely. She needed to be…
